School Age and Youth
Child and Youth Services provides support to school age children and young people with intellectual disability or autism spectrum disorder and their families. Support is provided until the young person transitions from school to employment or other post school option.
A range of therapy, assessment, expert advice and support services are available. These include:
- Therapy that focuses on promoting your child's development in a range of areas such as communication, independent living skills and social skills
- Behaviour intervention services that work with you and your child to address behaviours your child has that may be of concern to you
- Specialist assessments that can help with sleep, toileting, eating, behaviour and sensory issues.
- Case management
Services for school age children are provided by experienced therapists and support staff including:
- Speech pathologists
- Occupational therapists
- Social workers
- Developmental educators
- Service coordinators
These team members provide expert advice and assistance in relation to specific issues such as communication, self-help skills, social skills, behaviour difficulties, emotional issues and family stress and coping.
